Children's Meeting
Rejoice in the presence of children and
young people in your meeting and recognise the gifts they bring.
. . .from Quakers' Advices and
Queries

We have a children's group which meets twice a month from 10:15am and joins the adults towards the end of Meeting for Worship. The Children's Meeting is not a Sunday School but hopes to pass on something of the ethos of Quakerism while providing a range of enjoyable activities. Children are also welcome to join Meeting for Worship for the whole hour if they wish to do so. There will always be at least two adults with the children, and parents are welcome to stay as long as their children need them. Occasionally the children may be taken out for a walk or other activity: we shall not take them off the premises without your permission. All helpers are expected to work within the guidelines of Meeting Safety published by Quaker Home Service. We encourage parents to familiarise themselves with this.
Weekly Children's Meeting … again!
At the beginning of 2005 the Children's Committee embarked on a schedule which only included two sessions each month for the children. This seemed a good idea at the time, but when this plan was reviewed at their February meeting the committee decided to revert to weekly children's meetings, because…
- children have so many competing interests that they can not be expected to fit in with our timetable
- we want to encourage the children to come along on any Sunday
- we want parents to be able to come on any Sunday without having to worry about childcare
- the Meeting as a whole misses the children!
